Parva: Vivek Agnihotri announces new film based on SL Bhyrappa’s novel

At a Bengaluru event, director Vivek Agnihotri presented “Parva,” an adaptation of SL Bhyrappa’s Kannada novel.

Vivek Agnihotri, known for his influential films such as ‘Kashmir Files’ and ‘Vaccine War,’ has revealed his latest movie, ‘Parva.’ The upcoming film is based on the acclaimed Kannada novel “Parva” by Padma Bhushan winner SL Bhyrappa. The poster for the film was unveiled in a ceremony in Bengaluru attended by SL Bhyrappa, Prakash Belawadi, producer Pallavi Joshi, and other dignitaries.

‘Parva’ is a multi-part movie adaptation of the epic Mahabharata that offers a distinct perspective through the key characters’ personal perspectives. Director Vivek Agnihotri expressed gratitude for the opportunity to bring this modern classic to the big screen.


The project began with a talk between SL Bhyrappa and Prakash Belawadi, who were inspired by Vivek Agnihotri’s work, particularly ‘The Kashmir Files.’ Vivek Agnihotri began the journey of bringing ‘Parva’ to life after meeting with SL Bhyrappa and gaining his approval.

SL Bhyrappa, who is anxious to see his story come to life on the big screen, praised Vivek Agnihotri’s film business experience. He underlined the necessity of the film reflecting the true core of the Mahabharata, with plans for Kannada and Hindi versions. He also remarked that attempts should be made to make ‘Parva’ available in English as well.
