Kriti Sanon took to her Instagram handle to share the trailer of her upcoming film ‘Mimi’. In the film, she is essaying the role of a surrogate mother. The film is helmed by Luka Chuppi director Laxman Utekar and stars Pankaj Tripathi and Sai Tamhankar.

Sharing the trailer Kriti wrote, “#Mimi expected everything, except for this unexpected journey! Here is My Mimi for you! Watch the glimpse of her unexpected story with your family. #MimiTrailer out now. Link in bio. Releasing on 30th July on @officialjiocinema & @netflix_in. #NothingLikeWhatYoureExpecting”

In the trailer, Pankaj Tripathi’s character persuades Mimi (Kriti Sanon) to become a surrogate mother for an American couple. Mimi agrees after she finds out that she will be paid Rs 20 lakh for carrying the baby.

Kriti’s character is concerned about how she will explain the baby bump to her parents and then Sai Tamhankar’s character tells her that she can stay with her. Making the situation more hilarious, Sai’s character introduces Kriti’s character as ‘Chand’ and Pankaj’s character as her husband Naseeruddin. However, later on, the American couple says they no longer want the child and she asked to get an abortion and that turns her world upside down. While she returned home she is interrogated by her parents to know whose child it is and the panic and chaos lead to her pointing at Pankaj’s character.

Kriti talking about her film told PTI, “It’s not preachy or serious. It’s not like you are going to watch a film on surrogacy and it’s going to be a documentary film. It’s a very entertaining film, filled with humour, and a lot of ups and downs. There’s a beautiful graph of the woman I am playing, Mimi, where she wants to be an actress.”

The film is slated for a digital release on Netflix and Jio cinemas on July 30.
