The Karni Sena has returned to the forefront, this time with Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Prithviraj, which is based on the life of Rajput Prithviraj Chauhan. The Rajput organisation has filed an objection to the film’s title. “How can they keep the title of the film as simply ‘Prithviraj’ since the film is based on the great Prithviraj Chauhan?” remarked filmmaker Surjeet Singh Rathore, President of the Karni Sena’s Youth Wing. We want the title changed to his entire name in order to respect him.”
The Karni Sena does not stop there; they have other demands as well. They have asked that the film be screened for them prior to its distribution. “If they don’t listen to our advise, they will have to face the consequences,” Singh warned. What happened to Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the filming of ‘Padmaavat,’ the makers of this film will have to be prepared for as well.”
On his birthday in 2019, Akshay Kumar revealed the project. Akshay tweeted, “Elated to share about my first historical film on my birthday.” Humbled to have had the opportunity to play a hero I look upto for his valor and values – Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan – in one of my biggest films, Prithviraj.”
Prithviraj stars Akshay Kumar as the main character, with Manushi Chillar as Prithviraj Chauhan’s wife, Samyukta. Aditya Chopra is producing the film, which is directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi.
