Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol, is scheduled to hit theatres on August 11. Gurdaspur residents, the actor’s parliamentary district, have started rallies demanding for a boycott of the movie. According to accounts, many used social media campaigns and anti-actor posters to express their rage.
For those who are unaware, Sunny visited Sri Darbar Sahib in Amritsar to promote Gadar 2 but skipped his Lok Sabha district of Gurdaspur, which is only 30 kilometres away. Locals became angry with their MP as a result.
@iamsunnydeol ppl of Pb made this man as MP as they thought he is son of Pb but he proved traitor of Pb and left his ppl during the tough time of floods. #boycottGadar2 @Anilsharma_dir @ZeeStudios_ @Sattu94967722 @beingammy0013 @Avisingh3737 @ShivrattanDhil1 @puneetgarg89 pic.twitter.com/wkBa8W0g4B

Deol won his first election against Congress candidate and sitting MP Sunil Jakhar from the Punjabi Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency by a margin of 82,459 votes. His BJP membership date is April 23, 2019. Sunny was also called out since he had a poor attendance record during the 17th Lok Sabha’s first session, missing 28 days of it.
Deol is his family’s third political addition. Earlier that year, in the national elections, his wife Hema Malini won the Mathura seat in Uttar Pradesh for the BJP for a second consecutive term, and his father Dharmendra won the Bikaner Lok Sabha seat for the party.
Sunny Deol is reprising his performance as Tara Singh from the 2001 smash movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. The sequel, which also features Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma, was directed by Anil Sharma, who also worked on the first film. Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadhwa, and Luv Sinha also have significant parts in the movie.
In Gadar 2, Tara Singh advances the plot by travelling to Pakistan in search of his son Jeetey. The film, which is being made by Zee Studios, will compete with OMG 2 starring Akshay Kumar.
