
Empuraan has made a grand entrance at the box office, recording a ₹22 crore opening across India on its first day. The film, which released on Thursday, generated massive anticipation and has lived up to the hype, especially in Kerala, where it witnessed exceptional occupancy rates throughout the day.
Occupancy and City-Wise Performance
The film saw strong footfalls across Kerala, with a 63.32% morning occupancy, which dipped slightly in the afternoon to 54.32% but picked up again in the evening (60.43%) and peaked during the night shows (66%).
Among Kerala cities, Kochi led with a massive 97.5% occupancy, followed by Kozhikode (92.25%), Thrissur (91.75%), and Kollam (93.25%), showcasing a strong local reception. Meanwhile, Trivandrum (84.75%) and Kottayam (88.75%) also registered impressive numbers.
Outside Kerala, the performance was mixed. While Bengaluru (43.25%) and Chennai (44.75%) saw moderate interest, major metros like Mumbai (26.50%), Hyderabad (23.25%), and Delhi NCR (26%) recorded a slow start. However, with the weekend ahead, these numbers could improve.
