Director Ram Gopal Varma announces new movie, says ‘D Company’ is the asli Mumbai Saga’

Director Ram Gopal Varma has announced the release of  his next film “D Company” just a week after the Mumbai Saga release.

Director Ram Gopal Varma has announced the release of  his next film “D Company” just a week after the Mumbai Saga release. According to a source D company is an unworld film based on Dawood Ibrahim. Apparently Bollywood directors’ obsession seems to be progressively increasing towards Mumbai’s underworld life. This becomes the second film in one week with a similar plot. 

During an interview, Ram Gopal Varma take  on asked D Company which opens a week after, looks a lot like Sanjay Gupta’s Mumbai Saga. Ram replied, “It’s about people’s  perspective, my film was scheduled for this date and I am just following the schedule.” Further, the director added that he frankly doesn’t know what Mumbai Saga is about but he says that ‘D Company is the asli Mumbai Saga.’

Further, the director talks about ‘D Company’ being similar to ‘Mumbai Saga,’ he reveals that he knows that the plot of the two films are the same but it’s in the audience’s hand to watch the film as per their choice. He said may the best one win. Ram Gopal Varma also spoke on, releasing movies in theaters despite the rise in COVID-19 cases. He said, “That’s as good a guess as anybody’s guess. But we have to start somewhere.”

Furthermore, Ram talks about the actor who is playing Dawood’s role in his film. “His name is Ashwat Kanth and I chose him after auditioning more than 35 actors. He’s playing a 26 year old Dawood.”

The conversation ended with a tricky question, the director was will real life Dawood like reel life Dawood? Ram replied, “Trust me that he will love him.”
