The release calendar for 2026 may be witnessing another major change. Aneet Padda’s upcoming film Shakti Shalini, which is part of the expanding Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, is reportedly considering a new release date to avoid a direct box office battle with Shah Rukh Khan’s King.

According to reports by Bollywood Hungama, the film was initially expected to release on December 24, 2026. However, the makers are now reportedly exploring a January 2027 release window instead. The move is said to be a strategic decision, considering the massive anticipation surrounding Shah Rukh Khan’s King, which is currently scheduled for a Christmas 2026 theatrical release.

Unlike a conventional postponement, reports suggest that the decision is also linked to production requirements. The film is said to be in its final stages of shooting, while post-production and visual effects work are expected to require additional attention before the project is ready for theatres.

Shakti Shalini has already generated curiosity among audiences due to its connection with the Maddock cinematic universe and Aneet Padda’s growing popularity following Saiyaara. Reports also indicate that the actress may be seen in dual roles in the supernatural drama.

Although there has been no official confirmation from the makers yet, if the shift happens, it could significantly reshape the Christmas 2026 box office lineup.
