Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan release postponed due to COVID 19 crisis, actor announces new date

Actor-producer Ajay Devgn revealed the new release date of ‘Maidaan’ on his social media handle. The film portrays the life of the former Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim and is directed by Amit R Sharma.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, big banner film releases are at hault or getting postponed. On Saturday, Ajay Devgn took it to his social media handle to reveal the new release date of ‘Maidaan’. The sports drama movie was scheduled to release on December 11, 2020, but owning to coronavirus, the release date has been changed. Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ is set to release in the Independence day week, August 13, 2021. Ajay shared this news with a new poster of the film.

The Golmaal actor wrote, “2021 Independence week. An untold story that will make every Indian proud. 13th August mark the date. #Maidaan2021”. Along with this, Devgn released a new poster with the actor is standing with a ball in his hand and the team standing in the background. The film stars Ajay as Syed Abdul Rahim, the man behind making football popular in India. He paved the way for the modern day football in our country and he was also the football coach of the national team from 1950 to 1963.

A report has already revealed that the film’s set in Dahisar was demolished due to the lockdown, as no shooting of the film was taking place. Maidaan is helmed by Amit R Sharma and produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta and Akash Chawla. It also stars Priyamani. Now, the film will hit the screens during the Independence Day week on August 13, 2021.
