National Award-winning actor Vicky Kaushal is garnering accolades for playing the titular character in Sardar Uddham. Other actors who were part of the film are being noticed and appreciated. Banita Sandhu who played the role of a deaf-and-mute girl also touched audience’s hearts literally without speaking even a word.

In an interview, the actress speaks about the success of ‘Sardar Uddham.’

Actress quoted, “It’s been incredible, and honestly, it has exceeded my expectations. With Vicky and Shoojit sir, I knew it was going to be a good movie. But, they have just taken the film to another level. I really didn’t expect anything because my role was so small and now to see people touched by it makes me feel so happy and warm inside.”

When Banita came to know that she will be playing a deaf-and-mute character. The first thing she had to do was learn the Indian Sign Language (ISL). The film was set 100 years ago in Amritsar in Punjab. So, she had to localize myself into making it look authentic to the region.

Banita came down to Amritsar for a week before the shoot. She further mentioned, she had a great teacher Neelam ji, who worked in a special school for the deaf and mute.

The challenging part according to Banita was the learning. Binata also interacted with lead actor Vicky Kaushal to improvise few things.
