69th National Film Awards: Vicky Kaushal’s Sardar Udham receives ‘Best Hindi Film’ award

Sardar Udham is a biographical historical drama film directed by Shoojit Sircar.

‘Sardar Udham,’ directed by Shoojit Sircar and starring Vicky Kaushal, was named Best Hindi Film at the 69th National Film Awards. On Wednesday, the award ceremony was conducted in the nation’s capital.

The film was also nominated for Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, and Best Audiography.

‘Sardar Udham’ is a biographical historical drama film directed by Shoojit Sircar, and produced by Rising Sun Films in collaboration with Kino Works.

Based on the life of Udham Singh, a Punjabi freedom warrior who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in London in 1919 to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar.

Shaun Scott, Stephen Hogan, Amol Parashar, and Banita Sandhu also appear in the film. The film was especially notable for its realistic depiction of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, which was shown in a lengthy and brutal segment.
