New girl group ‘BABYMONSTER’ to officially debut in November; YG Entertainment confirms

The group was previously scheduled to release its first single in September

BABYMONSTER, YG Entertainment’s new girl group, will make their debut in November, the agency has confirmed.

The act will be the first female group to make their label debut since BLACKPINK joined the agency in 2016.

According to YG, BABYMONSTER’s debut tune will have a “powerful mood.” “We have been extra cautious about the lead track in order to produce the best output,” the label said in a press release (via Korea JoongAng Daily).

“All preparations have been completed, and when the girl group officially debuts in November, we plan on relentlessly marching forward at full speed, so please look forward [to BABYMONSTER].”

The group is currently practising the song’s choreography and will film the music video for the single later this month, according to the statement.

Previously, BABYMONSTER was set to premiere in September. At the time, it was claimed that the agency had chosen a “strong hip-hop song” for the group’s debut.

YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun-suk stated earlier this year that the future girl group’s lineup would include all seven women featured on the group’s web show Last Evaluation, despite previously stating that the group would only have five members. Ahyeon, Ruka, Chiquita, Haram, Pharita, Rora, and Asa complete the final lineup.

During Last Evaluation, the members faced trials in order for YG Entertainment to decide who will debut. During the performance, the members of the girl group sang renditions of popular songs ranging from BLACKPINK’s “Stay” to Olivia Rodrigo’s “traitor.”

Following their seventh anniversary earlier this year, BLACKPINK is still negotiating contract renewals with YG Entertainment. During the debate, rapper Jennie released a unique solo single, ‘You & Me,’ last week (October 6), after releasing the music on the ‘Born Pink’ world tour.
