Veteran actor Junior Mehmood celebrated his memorable roles in films like Caravan, Haathi Mera Saathi, and Mera Naam Joker has passed away at the age of 67 after a protracted battle with stage four stomach cancer. The actor had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Tata Memorial Hospital and was in the process of recuperating at home.
Many celebs like Jeetendra, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Johny Liver had visited the ailing actor before he breathed his last. Sachin Pilangaonkar also visited the actor on Tuesday and later shared a message on Instagram. He wrote, “I request you all to pray for my childhood friend Jr Mehmood who’s suffering from a fatal illness. I had a video conversation with him a couple of days ago and went to see him today, but he was sleeping as he was under medication. I am in touch with his son and Johny Liver regarding his health. May god bless him.”
Earlier this month, his friend Salam Kazi told ANI, “He was ill for 2 months and initially was thought that he might have some minor problem, but after that suddenly his weight started decreasing. And when the medical reports came, it said there was cancer in the liver and lungs and a tumour in the intestine, and he has also developed jaundice. So the treatment going on, but the doctors said it’s a stage four cancer.”
According to the report, the actor’s funeral will be held at around 12 pm at the Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz west, where his mother was also buried.
