Will there be ‘More Than A Married Couple’ season 2?

Waiting for the next episode of your favorite anime can feel like a personal attack, but waiting for a new season can be downright agonizing. This has been the case for fans of More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers, who have been eagerly anticipating news of a second season.

It’s been over two years since this charming romantic comedy graced our screens during the Fall 2022 season. Back then, More Than a Married Couple stood out among heavyweights like Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, and Bleach, earning a solid 7.5 rating on MyAnimeList. It proved that you don’t always need intense action or supernatural elements to captivate audiences—sometimes, all it takes is a story about a couple of awkward teenagers pretending to be married, with a dash of love triangle drama for good measure.

Based on a manga series spanning 72 chapters, the anime follows the escapades of Jirou Yakuin and Akari Watanabe, thrust into a school program where they must act as married couples to foster better understanding among students. Initially uninterested in each other romantically, Jirou harbors feelings for Shiori Sakurazaka, while Akari longs for her own crush.

In the final episodes of the anime, emotional complexities deepen as Jirou and Akari navigate various trials and shared experiences, gradually developing genuine feelings for each other. The series concludes on a somewhat open-ended note, hinting at the potential for their relationship to evolve further beyond what viewers have witnessed.

Will there be ‘More Than A Married Couple’ season 2?

As for a second season, as of July 2024, Studio Mother, the studio behind the anime, has not announced any plans. They are currently focused on other projects like As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I’ll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World, released in April 2024, and Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199, premiering this month.

With Studio Mother’s schedule occupied, the prospects of seeing More Than a Married Couple return this year seem slim. However, fans can hold onto hope. Anime adaptations often aim to boost interest in their source material, and with 72 manga chapters already available, there remains a solid foundation for a potential continuation.

In the world of anime, patience is key. While the wait may be frustrating, the potential for a second season remains a beacon of hope for fans of this delightful romance series.
