Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie is ‘In the works’ with all 3 major stars

Warner Bros. is apparently working on a film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Will the main trio be back?

Twelve years have passed since the eighth film, Deathly Hallows Part 2, which marked the end of the Harry Potter film series. Since then, Warner Bros has released three prequels to the Fantastic Beasts trilogy, which JK Rowling originally intended to be a five-part series. The future of the series, however, is unknown at the studio due to Secrets of Dumbledore’s underwhelming box office performance from last year.

However, David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, recently stated that he intends to focus on franchises in the future and emphasised how successful the studio’s first Harry Potter films were. A month later, well-known leaker WDW Pro tweeted that the studio intended to revive the original movie franchise in the following three to five years with a fresh cast.

Additionally, there are apparently plans to adapt the 2016 West End stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The narrative starts with the 19 Years Later epilogue found at the conclusion of Deathly Hallows and chronicles the exploits of Albus and Scorpius Malfoy, kids of Draco Malfoy and Harry, who grow up to be close friends.

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, the play’s original stars, will reach character age within the next 5-7 years, and Warner Bros currently holds the play’s rights.

According to a new report in The Sun’s source: “Warner Bros is currently looking at how to bring The Cursed Child to the big screen. It has been in their sights since the play proved to be so popular in the West End. It went onto the backburner for a while because there was so much work going on with the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

“A line has been temporarily drawn on that for now, especially given its lacklustre performance, so it’s full steam ahead when it comes to developing The Cursed Child. At the moment it is in very formative stages and they are discussing the next steps to move it forward.”
