Luke Grimes is not mad at his Yellowstone co-star Kevin Costner for exiting the hit show.

He plays the youngest son of Kevin’s character, John Dutton III, and talked about Kevin’s departure in one of his recent interviews with The Independent.

“Whatever happened there is unfortunate if it’s changed anything about how the show was going to unfold,” stated Luke. He added that he was aware of Kevin becoming busy with his “passion projects”  such as his upcoming film Horizon: An American Saga.

“At a certain point, you gotta do what you gotta do, man,” said the actor. “You gotta do what you love.”

Paramount made the announcement last June that it would be ending the hit show after five seasons. The decision was followed by a few months after Deadline reported that the network was trying to end the Western because Kevin did not want to spend much time shooting.

However, Kevin has not completely closed the door on his return.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, earlier this month, “I’ve made five seasons of it. Thought I was going to make seven. So, how it works out? I hope it does, but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on.’
