Solo Leveling, a highly popular anime series, is gearing up for its second season. The first season of this web comic adaptation made a strong impact when it debuted earlier this year. Atsushi Kaneko, the show’s producer, has confirmed that the dubbing for all the episodes of Season 2 is complete and that production is moving swiftly. Kaneko expressed his gratitude to the cast and staff, mentioning that their support has been incredibly motivating. He assured fans that while he can’t reveal much just yet, the team is working hard and that new information about the upcoming season will be available soon.
Kaneko’s team, in collaboration with A-1 Pictures, is eager to build on the success of the first season. The anime, which premiered in January to positive reviews, is set to make a significant return with its new season. The show has captivated audiences with its exciting plot and impressive visuals.
Solo Leveling is set in a world where hunters—warriors with supernatural powers—battle dangerous monsters to protect humanity. The story follows Sung Jinwoo, a weak hunter who, after barely escaping a deadly dungeon, is chosen by a mysterious system to gain the unique ability to level up his strength. Unlike other hunters, who have fixed abilities, Jinwoo’s new power allows him to continuously grow stronger. As he delves into dungeons and uncovers secrets, he learns he is destined to become the Shadow Monarch, an immortal necromancer with control over the dead. He is the only Monarch fighting to save humanity, while the others seek to destroy it.
In April 2023, Kakao announced a sequel titled Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. This new story, which began its web novel release on April 10, 2023, is set after the events of the original series and introduces Sung Su-ho, Jinwoo’s son. Su-ho, who has inherited his father’s powers, initially had his abilities and memories sealed to allow him a normal life. However, as new Gates open on Earth during his university years, Su-ho is selected as a Player by the System. He must become a Hunter to confront emerging threats linked to his parents’ disappearance.
The web novel is penned by Daul, who took over from Chugong, the original author. Chugong has supported Daul’s work, sharing that he still feels the same excitement he had when starting the original series. The first 105 chapters of the sequel were released on KakaoPage, with a webtoon adaptation starting on August 1, 2024, created by Redice Studio. Daul writes the new series, and JIN is the main artist.
