Apple TV+ has officially renewed its critically acclaimed psychological thriller Severance for a third season, promising more intrigue and revelations at Lumon Industries. The announcement follows the success of Season 2, which became the platform’s most-watched series.
According to Apple TV+, the latest season explored the consequences of tampering with the severance barrier, drawing Mark Scout (Adam Scott) and his colleagues deeper into the complexities of their divided lives. Unlike the previous season, the finale did not conclude with a major cliffhanger, a creative decision by executive producer Ben Stiller. However, the ending still left audiences with lingering questions about Lumon’s enigmatic operations.
Stiller, who directed five episodes this season, described the experience of working on Severance as one of the most creatively fulfilling projects of his career. In a statement, he humorously remarked that while he had no memory of making the series, he was assured that filming Season 3 would be just as enjoyable—though, in true Severance fashion, those memories would be permanently erased.
Scott, who portrays Mark Scout and serves as an executive producer, expressed enthusiasm for returning to the set. He jokingly cautioned fans not to inform his “innie” about the renewal, reinforcing the show’s unique blend of psychological depth and dark humor.
With Severance securing another chapter, anticipation builds for what lies ahead at Lumon Industries. While details on the release date and cast remain under wraps, the next season is expected to continue unraveling the unsettling mysteries behind the severance procedure.
