With the failed attempt of making an interconnected cinematic universe like the MCU with the movie Mummy, Universal is once again ready to relaunch its Monster Universe with the success of “The Invisible Man.”
In the next series, Universal is planning to make Wolfman, which will be starred by Ryan Gosling.
Who will direct the movie is still a question but according to the sources of Variety, executives at Universal have been meeting with directors over the past month and could be making a decision soon on who will take the reins behind the camera.
Universal has earlier tried to make an interconnected cinematic universe and the first Movie in the series took $350 million to make and promote, and in return, it earned only $409 million; the studio lost a sizable chunk after the release.
But the low budget movie “The Invisible Man” cost only $7 million to make and in return it gave $122 million at the box-office, giving Universal a ray of hope for the future projects.
Timing for “Wolfman” is also in question. Maybe it seems the right time to get off the ground, but the exact production start-date is still translucent.
Ryan Gosling is also said to lead an astronaut film which is an adaption of Andy Weir’s new novel. Andy Weir is the same author whose novel “The Martian” was adapted in a movie and was a huge success worldwide.
