The actors of the iconic 90s sitcom ‘Friends’ have successfully remained together through thick and thin and have been able to avoid all bitterness towards each other. Although it’s too hard to avoid negativity on the sets for co-stars of iconic shows and film, it wasn’t the same for the cast members of ‘Friends.’ And, it was achieved through ‘equal pay for all.
Recently, during an interview on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, Jennifer Aniston along with co-stars Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow made an appearance in the show after the famous reunion episode. Jennifer revealed how important it was to be paid equally for all six members of the cast. All six members were paid the same amount of USD 1 million per episode.
Aniston said, “We’re all doing the same amount of work. I wouldn’t have felt comfortable knowing I was making more.”
Cox joined the conversation and further added, “We all felt that way. I thought it was the most important thing—as we all did—that we all were equal in every single way. That was the first time that people had all stuck together in a cast. I think it was scary, probably, for productions after that.”
“it just got rid of bitterness. It was such a great relationship that is rare and lucky,” Lisa explained how everyone’s salary being equal helped.
Lisa also recalled, “I think Courteney had a lot to do with it, too, because she was the most well-known. When we got there she was like, ‘Let’s help each other if you think something’s funny, let’s give each other notes.’”
“It was healing. We kind of parented and healed and loved each other,” Jennifer agreed.
