Harry Potter TV series eyeing release date in 2026 for debut on Max

The Harry Potter TV series is moving forward as Warner Bros. Discovery is now eyeing 2026 for its release.

The date was revealed on Friday morning by David Zaslav on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call.

Mentioning that the last Harry Potter film was made more than a dozen years ago, he said, “We have not been shy about our excitement around Harry Potter.”

While discussing the franchise strategy of WBD, Zaslav also said that he met just a few weeks ago with Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling in London.

He revealed that a few weeks ago when he was in London with Casey and Channing, they spent some real time with the author and her team. “Both sides are thrilled to be reigniting this franchise. Our conversations were great, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead,” he said.

As earlier reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the development of the series began in 2021. It received a greenlight from WBD last year and said that the plan is to develop a series based on all books, which will spread out for ten years.
