On Thursday, a new trailer for filmmaker Chloe Zhao’s highly anticipated film Eternals was released on social media, providing another look at the heroic ensemble. The film, directed by Zhao, is about a titular group of people who have been living on Earth for the past 7,000 years. The Eternals were created by heavenly creatures known as Celestials and brought to Earth to protect the world against their evil opposites, the Deviants.
Gemma Chan plays Sersi, Richard Madden plays Ikaris, Angelina Jolie plays Thena, Salma Hayek plays Ajak, Kumail Nanjiani plays Kingo, Don Lee plays Gilgamesh, Brian Tyree Henry plays Phastos, Lauren Ridloff plays Makkari, Lia McHugh plays Sprite, and Barry Keoghan plays Druig. The new video begins with Hayek’s Ajak narrating the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. She claims that the events of Endgame have resulted in a new “emergence,” alluding to the Weirdos.
For viewers, with one scene, Sersi (Chan) is shown describing the history of the Eternals to her current boyfriend Dane Whitman (Kit Harington, Madden’s Game of Thrones co-star). “Why didn’t you people pitch in and help battle Thanos? Or any war, or any of history’s other atrocities? “enquires Whitman as the trailer depicts some of humanity’s darkest disasters, including the launching of nuclear bombs on Japan.
Throughout the following scene, Nanjiani’s Kingo, who can be seen previously in the teaser doing a Bollywood dance routine, launches cosmos energy bullets out his hands towards a beast. Kro, the Deviants’ captain, is also shown in the action-packed trailer. Zhao, who won an Academy Award for best cinematography for her film Nomadland, co-wrote the script with Patrick Burleigh, Ryan Firpo, and Matthew K Firpo. Eternals, produced by Marvel Studios, will be released in November of this year.
