Dominic Fike and his “Euphoria” co-star Hunter Schafer have ended their relationship.
During an Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe, the “Mona Lisa” singer gently disclosed his updated relationship status while discussing his issue with codependency.
“I’m just done being in relationships right now,” he said.
Speaking about how he has viewed love as needing someone, Fike, 27, claimed he wanted time alone to get out of the “loop.”
“That has actually bled into my romantic relationships, that kind of dynamic,” he admitted. “And it is often the cause of the end of my relationship.”
While discussing his prior romance with Schafer, 24, the “3 Nights” singer revealed how much fun they had together and how it made him realise he couldn’t be alone.
“I could make music around her, which was crazy,” he said. “I was looking through songs the other day and found one that I made with her. I was like, ‘Man, that was so cool.’
“But the fact of me saying that — of being uncomfortable being alone — that’s a bad thing. So, I decided to just be alone for a while.” When asked if there will be any tension on set for the third season of “Euphoria” with his ex, the artist says no.
“I think it’ll be fine. We’re all adults kind of. I’m trying,” he said.
“But the fact of me saying that — of being uncomfortable being alone — that’s a bad thing. So, I decided to just be alone for a while.”
When they were caught holding hands at The Nice Guy restaurant in West Hollywood in January 2022, the former couple was initially romantically linked.
A month later, they made their relationship public when Fike posted an Instagram photo of herself kissing Schafer during a birthday celebration.
But it wasn’t until May 2022 that the artist opened up about his connection with the model, telling GQ that he was “very much in love.”
“In those moments, your relationship is accelerated because you’re so vulnerable with someone, immediately. Which usually takes a long time,” he said, dishing on how starring together in the HBO show fast-tracked their romance.
“Some people fall in love, like, f–king months after they meet, or years after. We developed an attraction — it sped it up so fast. We just really got to know each other so quickly.”
