The much-hyped showdown between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg might be back on the table! The high-voltage matchup, initially teased last year, had Zuckerberg, an MMA enthusiast, favored to win. Not one to back down, Musk agreed to train with UFC legend Georges St-Pierre to level the playing field.
The excitement, however, was short-lived. Zuckerberg pulled the plug on the bout, reportedly at the behest of Musk’s mother, who urged her son to avoid the fight. With Musk seemingly disinterested, Zuckerberg lost enthusiasm, and the clash fell flat. But recent comments from Musk have rekindled hopes for the fight.
During a visit to the US Capitol for Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress, Musk was asked about the potential fight. With a grin, Musk responded, “I’ll fight Zuckerberg any place, any time, and rules.” This isn’t the first time Musk has shown such bravado. On an October 2023 episode of the ‘Joe Rogan Experience,’ Musk boldly claimed he’d fight Zuckerberg “in a house, on a mouse, with a louse.”
While Musk talks the talk, Zuckerberg walks the walk. The Meta CEO is well-versed in mixed martial arts, having trained with stars like Alexander Volkanovski and Israel Adesanya. Facing such an opponent would be a monumental challenge for Musk.
Amidst the fight talk, Musk has also been in the headlines for personal reasons. He recently spoke out about his transgender son, Vivian Musk, who came out in June 2022 and changed his name to Xavier. Musk voiced regret over consenting to puberty blockers for his son, accusing doctors of misleading him about their effects.
Musk criticized what he called a ‘woke mind virus’ for his son’s situation. He claimed ignorance about the long-term impacts of puberty blockers and expressed frustration over the lack of information provided to him.
