Coldplay’s highly-anticipated concert in Ahmedabad has hit a roadblock. The District Child Protection Unit in Ahmedabad has issued a notice to singer Chris Martin and the concert organizers, instructing them not to use children in any form on stage during the concert scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25 and 26, 2025.
Protecting Children’s Health and Rights
The notice was issued in response to a complaint filed by Pandit Rao Dharnevar, Assistant Professor of Sociology in Chandigarh. Dharnevar stated that involving children in concerts featuring loud sounds and bright lights can harm their physical health and mental development. He emphasized his commitment to taking similar steps in the future to safeguard children’s rights. The Unit has highlighted that sound levels exceeding 120 decibels during the concert could pose significant risks to children’s health. Organizers have also been directed to ensure that no children are allowed to enter the concert venue without earplugs or hearing protection.
Coldplay’s Long-Awaited Return to India
Coldplay’s upcoming concert in Ahmedabad marks the band’s return to India after a long hiatus. The British rock band has a massive following in the country, and fans are eagerly awaiting their performance. Coldplay is known for their hit songs like “Viva La Vida”, “Paradise”, “Yellow”, and “A Sky Full of Stars”, among many others. Their concerts are always a visual and auditory treat, with stunning light shows and energetic performances. It’s no surprise that tickets for the concert sold out quickly, with fans from all over the country flocking to Ahmedabad to catch the band live.
This isn’t the first time Dharnevar has taken action. He had previously filed a complaint against Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s New Year’s Eve concert in Ludhiana, leading to a formal notice being issued to prevent the singer from performing certain songs that promote alcohol. With the Ahmedabad concert just around the corner, it remains to be seen how the organizers will respond to the notice.
