As Coldplay prepares for its much-awaited concert in India, the excitement is palpable among fans. The band is set to perform at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in November 2024, which will accommodate 50,000 lucky attendees. However, securing a ticket may prove more difficult than initially expected, with a viral ChatGPT calculation highlighting the stiff competition.
A detailed analysis shared by a marketing executive has revealed the tough odds of getting a ticket. With an estimated 1,50,000 people expected to express interest in booking tickets on BookMyShow, the competition is fierce. The base odds of securing a ticket, according to the analysis, stand at approximately 1 in 3, given the stadium’s capacity. But the numbers don’t end there.
Factoring in unexpressed interest and multiple bookings, the odds tighten even further. Assuming that 20% of fans don’t formally express interest but still plan to purchase tickets, and an additional 10% increase in competition due to fans using multiple devices or accounts, the odds shrink to about 1 in 4.4. That translates to a mere 22.7% chance of getting a ticket, making the process even more competitive.
The analysis, shared by ONDC Marketing Executive Tina Gurnaney on social media platform X, detailed how ChatGPT helped crunch the numbers. Gurnaney also clarified that she provided the assumptions to ChatGPT for the calculation.

Adding to the excitement, Coldplay has announced a limited number of “Infinity Tickets,” priced at around Rs 2,000. These special tickets offer more fans the chance to attend the concert, but with a twist—the seating locations for Infinity Ticket holders will only be revealed on the day of the event. Fans are allowed to purchase a maximum of two Infinity Tickets each.
With tickets going live on September 22 at 12pm, fans are bracing for a highly competitive race to grab their spots. As Coldplay also teases a surprise guest appearance at the concert, the anticipation continues to build.
