In advance of the release of her newest movie, “The Archies,” director Zoya Akhtar wished the actors luck because each of them would be making their acting debuts. She shared a black and white photo of the ensemble cast on Instagram, which also stars Suhana Khan, Mihir Ahuja, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina, and Aditi Dot. An ‘Archies’ billboard could be spotted in the background of one of the actor group’s smiling side-by-side appearances on Mumbai’s Western Express Highway.
She captioned the post: “Your first hoarding is up kiddos. May there be many more. May you never stop working hard and forever remain wide eyed. I wish you the world.”
After expressing gratitude to Zoya Akhtar for the opportunity, the performers received well wishes from actresses Mona Singh and Nitanshi Goel. However, when the movie’s trailer debuted in 2022, internet users’ reactions have been consistent. The film’s trailer, “The Archies,” attracted a lot of criticism and trolling since it was claimed that it only had a tenuous link with Indian audiences outside of the ultra-elite. Since practically every performer in the movie comes from a wealthy Bollywood family, including Suhana Khan, the daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan and Khushi Kapoor who is the daughter of Boney Kapoor, many people claimed that the movie is a prime illustration of Bollywood’s nepotism.
According to the film’s creators, “Archies” is a vintage teen-comedy set in the 1960s that explores themes of friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak, and rebellion through the lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel, and Dilton. It is based on the 1960 American comic book of the same name. Audiences will be transported to the made-up, hilly town of Riverdale. The Netflix original series “Archies” will debut on that platform on December 7, 2023.
