The highly anticipated movie “Liger” which also served as Vijay Deverakonda’s Bollywood debut has utterly flopped at the box office, leaving the filmmakers with significant losses. According to a News18 source, Vijay has opted to refund a staggering Rs 6 crore to the makers of “Liger,” which was created on a budget of Rs 100 crore. Vijay took this decision since the movie performed poorly at the box office.
According to the source, the major celebrity would give film producer Charmme Kaur and the other co-producers of “Liger” a huge amount of his payment for the movie.
Not only that, but the budget for Vijay’s upcoming movie, “Jana Gana Mana,” has been reduced as a result of the box office disaster of “Liger.” The director of “Liger,” Puri Jagannadh, is also attached to the project, and the actor-director team has opted to forego their fees.
If rumours are to be believed, Vijay may subsequently claim a portion of the earnings if “Jana Gana Mana” is a commercial success. Ananya Panday appeared in “Liger” with Vijay. The movie garnered negative reviews from both reviewers and viewers, and despite extensive advertising, it was unable to find a home in theatres.
Vijay is presently starring in the Shiva Nirvana-directed film Kushi, set for release on December 23, 2022. Additionally, he has a contract for the Puri Jagannadh-directed film Jana Gana Mana, which is set for release on August 3rd, 2023.
