In the recent past, we have seen many big films like Laxxmi Bomb, Sadak 2, Bhuj etc are all going to release on OTT platforms. The multiplexes and distributors are all upset at the top stars and producers because of this decision. Soon after we were informed that Sooryavanshi and ’83 were will be hitting the big screen on Diwali and Christmas respectively.
Also another big-budget film, Coolie No.1 starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan will be hitting the big screen too. The film is a rom-com and was supposed to release on 1st May 2020. The makers have had several virtual meetings and have all felt a theatrical release would be the best.
Coolie No.1 is David Dhawan’s 45th film and is termed as a “maha-entertainer.” The makers feel after this lockdown, everyone will want to be positive and will go to see a comedy film.
There are many possible release dates but reportedly, January 1st will be the perfect day as a New Year release. A source revealed that the idea is to bring 2021 with laughter. Varun’s Mr.Lele is now shelved and previously it was originally going to release on 1st January 2021. However, the makers are yet going to see the current scenario and the plans are all tentative.
Coolie No.1 has been flooded with offers from Amazon Prime Video and Hotstar but David Dhawan believes in big-screen viewing and hence turned down all the offers. Coolie No.1 is the official reincarnation of Karisma Kapoor and Govinda’s film with the same name which also had the same title and director.
