Since actor Athiya Shetty and cricketer KL Rahul made their love public on social media, there has been conjecture regarding the couple’s marriage intentions. Everything, from accompanying each other on tours to holiday photos, has added to the hype surrounding their wedding preparations.
Meanwhile, much to the astonishment of fans, Athiya’s father, actor Suniel Shetty, has spilt the beans regarding their wedding, revealing how KL Rahul has a jam-packed schedule with many tours and there is hardly any spare time for them to be married. During a recent interview with Instant Bollywood, the Dhadhkan actor discussed his wedding preparations, revealing that he has totally left the choice to the kids and that the wedding would take place when the ‘kids decide’ and they take a break from their work duties.
Suniel further on the subject, saying, “I believe that jaise hi bachhe decide karenge (it will happen as soon as the kids decide). Rahul’s itinerary is available. Abhi Asia Cup, World Cup, South African trip, and Australia tour. Break milega bachho ko tab shaadi hogi. Is it true that ek din me shaadi nahi ho sakti? (Rahul’s calendar is packed with Asia Cup, World Cup, South African and Australia tours. The wedding will take place only when the children have had a chance to rest. It couldn’t happen in a single day, can it)?”
Furthermore, the 61-year-old actor admitted that, as a parent, he wants his daughter to marry and settle down, but that owing to KL Rahul’s hectic schedule, things are a little tough to plan. Shetty stated that they are unable to choose a wedding date since he only has one or two days off between tours.
While keeping fans guessing, the actor remarked, “Abhi papa chahte hain ki ladki hai toh shaadi ho jaaye, lekin ek baar Rahul ko break mil jaye, bachhe decide karein kab, kyunki… Toh darr jaoge aap calendar dekhoge. Do din mein shaad nahi ho sakti na, ek din ki do din ka gap hai. Toh yahi hai, jab waqt milega toh planning jarur hogi (Now papa wants that she is a girl and should get married, but Rahul needs a break, and the kids will decide when that can happen, because if you look at Rahul’s calendar, there are only 1-2 day breaks, and a wedding cannot happen in such a short time.
Suneil and KL Rahul get along well, and the actor has frequently voiced his admiration for the cricketer. During an interview on Gaurav Kapur’s Breakfast with Champions show, the player stated, “He’s not only a fan (Suniel Shetty). He is well knowledgeable about the game. He’s almost obsessed.”
