Bhushan Kumar of T-Series will bring to life the narrative of India’s first female choreographer, a story of hardship and success. T-Series, one of India’s premier production organisations, has secured the rights to make the biopic of iconic choreographer Saroj Khan. Previously, it was reported that Remo D’souza would direct the biography; however, the director has recently clarified that he would not be directing the film.
Remo acknowledged the rumour that he will not be directing the biography and told to Peeping Moon, “Yes, I had spoken to Sarojji expressing an interest to make her biopic. I was also talking to her daughter Sukaina. But no disappointment, it’s okay. It’s a family matter, it’s their decision. Bhushanji, I guess, shall soon take a call on who’s directing it.”
In an interview with Peeping Moon, “Well, he contacted us for the rights. He started talking to us about six months after Mom passed away. My brother Raju Khan (a noted choreographer in Bollywood) felt that he would be the right person for our mother’s biopic. Plus, he churns out movies at a fast pace. We want Mummy’s story to be told soon.”
Surprisingly, Sukaina has suggested to Bhushan Kumar that it would have been wonderful if he could persuade Madhuri Dixit to tell her mother’s tale on film. “Madhuri and my mother had a very special bond.” Sukaina added, “We will need to take a look at the script before it goes on floors. We want the story to be as real as possible.”
Sukaina revealed who will play Saroj Khan, saying, “Bhushan Kumar has promised to come up with a few candidates. He has stated that he will return to the Madhuri project.”
