Sriram Raghavan casts Agastya Nanda as an army officer in his upcoming film Ekkis

With Ekkis, Agastya Nanda is bringing the life of war hero Arun Khetarpal to the big screen; the Sriram Raghavan biopic is expected to emphasise the father-son bond.

Agastya Nanda, who debuted as an actor in the Netflix film The Archies earlier this month, is getting ready for his big-screen debut. According to a Pinkvilla report, Agastya will star as the lead in director Sriram Raghavan’s Ekkis, which is a biopic of 1971 war hero Arun Khetarpal and is produced by Dinesh Vijan. The report also added that Dharmendra will play a significant role in the film. Production on Ekkis is expected to begin in January 2024.

A source close to the development revealed that “2023 was an eventful year for Agastya Nanda, as not just did he make his acting debut with The Archies, but he also signed on for a Sriram Raghavan film. Agastya has attended several acting workshops with Sriram and specially trained acting coaches to polish his body language and step into the shoes of India’s most celebrated war hero, Arun Khetarpal.”

Agastya, who played the lead role of Archie Andrews in the Indian musical The Archies, which was based on the Archie Comics comic book series, will play an army officer in the film Ekkis. Sriram aims to emphasise the father-son relationship in the context of the 1971 war between India and Pakistan with this film. This will be the second project that Sriram and producer Dinesh Vijan have collaborated on, having previously worked together on Badlapur in 2015.

His feature film debut was in the Zoya Akhtar-directed teen musical comedy ‘The Archies’, which debuted on December 7 and starred Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi Saigal, aka Dot, and Yuvraj Menda alongside Agastya’s Archie Andrews. In the Netflix film, which is set in 1960s India, Archie and the gang navigate friendship, romance, and the future of Riverdale.
