Salman Khan was in a steady relationship with actress Sangeeta Bijlani and the two were even set to tie the knot. However, Salman was smitten by Somy Ali when they worked together and would meet her behind Sangeeta’s back. In fact, it was said that Sangeeta even caught Salman red-handed at Somy’s house. Somy confirmed this in a recent chat.
“Yes, that’s absolutely true,” Somy Ali told Times Now. She remembers, “I was staying in Vindyachal (Uttar Pradesh) at that time. Salman used to climb the pipes and come to my room through my window. I found this act of Salman utterly romantic. It was a two-bedroom apartment. However, I remember one day he came over at around 10:30 am when this incident happened. He was still seeing Sangeeta at that time and in fact, their wedding cards had been printed as well. Somy said, Salman and I were sitting and talking in my room and Sangeeta walked in suddenly. She looked at Salman and said, ‘This is it. You have to make a choice.’ Salman told me, ‘Somy I’ll be back in 10 minutes.’ I assumed that he would go ahead and marry Sangeeta since the wedding cards had already been printed. But he came back to the room and told me that he had broken up with Sangeeta and he wanted to be with me. I felt like it was fate.”
Recalling her fond memories with the star, Somy said that while shooting their first movie, which got shelved, she had showed Salman a picture and told him that she has come to India to marry and not act. Salman responded that he has a girlfriend, but Somy had replied that it does not matter, as “we are going to be together. Our fate is inevitable.”
