Shah Rukh Khan is riding high after the success of his action thriller Jawan, which was released in theatres on September 7, 2023. On September 15, the film’s producers threw a post-release event in Mumbai, which was attended by Shah Rukh, Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathi, Sunil Grover, Atlee, and Sanya Malhotra, among others.
Speaking about his forthcoming movie at Jawan’s event, Shah Rukh announced that his next film, Dunki, will be released this year on December 22nd. He said, “We started on 26 January, Republic Day; it’s a good, auspicious day. Then on Janmashtami, Lord Krishna’s birthday, we released this film. And now, on Christmas, we will bring Dunki. National integration rakhta hoon. Waise bhi jab meri film release hoti hai to Eid hoti hi hai.”
There have been rumours that the movie may be delayed. According to KoiMoi, the creators are considering pushing Dunki to early next year because Shah Rukh’s Pathaan and Jawan are shattering box office records. However, at the event, the Chak De India star denied such claims.
At the Jawan event, Shah Rukh spoke about his excellent year, saying, “I am not trying to show off. God has been very kind in that we have had Pathaan. God has been even kinder with Jawan.”
Helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki will star Taapsee Pannu as the female lead.
