Somy Ali, an actress-turned-social activist who was in a relationship with Salman Khan, reportedly revealed that the Dabangg star almost married his ex-girlfriend Sangeeta Bijlani.
Somy said in one of her most recent appearances with Aaj Tak that Sangeeta had caught Salman cheating on her and that she had called it quits after that.
“The wedding cards were printed, but Sangeeta caught Salman red-handed in my apartment. What Salman did to Sangeeta, the same happened to me. This is called karma, when I grew up a little, I understood about it,” Somy reportedly stated.
Somy went on to say that she had a crush on Salman and moved to Mumbai to try her luck in Bollywood and marry the actor. However, she said that things deteriorated after Salman used to ‘abuse’ her physically under the guise of ‘love and care.’
Salman and Somy apparently dated in the 1990s, and while their relationship was short-lived in the public light, Somy has frequently maintained that they had an affair for eight years.
The former actress frequently criticises Salman and has branded him a ‘woman abuser’ and a’sadistic’ in the past. Somy has also stated in previous interviews that memories of her connection with the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star haunt her.
Somy and Salman previously collaborated on the 1992 picture Buland, which was never released in theatres. She is most recognised for her performance in the 1997 film Chupp. She has now devoted her life to social activity, supporting women’s rights in South Asia through her non-governmental organisation.
