Russo Brothers to direct Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling in a $200 Million Netflix espionage thriller

Post the Avengers: Endgame success, the Russo Brothers are on cloud 9. The film went on to create history at the WorldWide box office and also became the highest-grossing movie of all time. With their production house AGBO Films, Russos produced action thrillers like Extraction with Randeep Hooda and Chris Hemsworth which was loved by the audience and 21 Bridges starring Chadwick Boseman.
The Russo Brothers have an upcoming release named Cherry, starring Tom Holland. The Russos have already announced their next venture, it’s going to be a big-budgeted film, The Gray Man, which will be based on the 2009 novel of the same name which was also a best seller. The film’s plot revolves around a freelance assassin and former CIA operative Court Gentry. The Gray Man is bound to be the most expensive film to release on Netflix. The movie’s budget is expected to be over $200 million.
This movie will star the Avengers actor, Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling in the lead role. While the movie will be directed and produced by the Russo Brothers, it is written by Joe Russo and it’s been polished by Christopher Marcus and Stephen McFeely.
The movie’s plot would be a freelance assassin, Ryan Gosling will be chased by a CIA operative Lloyd Hansenby, Chris Evans around the world.
Anthony Russo told Deadline that the movie would be on the same lines as “Captain America: Winter Soldier”. He said, “The movie is a real mano a mano between those two great actors who represent two different versions of the CIA, in what it can be, and what it can do. For those who were fans of Captain America: Winter Soldier, this is us moving into that territory in more of a real-world setting. That’s what this movie really means for us.”
While talking about the budget, Joe Russo says, “The intention is for it to be competitive with any theatrical, and the ability to do with with Gosling and Evans is a dream for us. The idea is to create a franchise and build out a whole universe, with Ryan at the center of it. We have all committed to the first movie, and that’s got to be great to get us to the second movie. These are master assassins, and Gosling’s characters gets burned by the CIA and Evans’ character has to hunt him down. We have a great working relationship with Netflix, and we go back almost 20 years with Scott Stuber. We formed AGBO to be an agnostic storytelling company, where we figure out the best platform. We think Netflix is the perfect place for this film.”
