RIP: Poonam Pandey passes away at 32, could not survive cervical cancer

Poonam Pandey, a model and actress, died on February 1 following a fight with cervical cancer, according to an official statement released on Friday morning.

Poonam died on Thursday night, according to a report by The Free Press Journal. She died in her hometown of Kanpur. Details regarding her funeral are still pending.

The statement, shared on Poonam’s official Instagram account, read, “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness.”

It added, “In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared.”

Poonam Pandey received recognition for her efforts in the entertainment industry. She made her Bollywood debut with the flick Nasha in 2013.

Shortly after the picture was uploaded on Instagram, some of her followers refused to believe the actress had died. One person remarked in the comments section, “Lost? I hope this is not a fake or funny post.”

Another said, “I hope it’s not a marketing gimmick since it’s disgusting, but if it’s true,. Rest in peace.”

Some of Poonam’s fans were likewise shocked by her untimely death. “I can’t believe 😢😳 really??” read one response.

Poonam originally gained popularity when she vowed to strip naked for the Indian cricket team if they won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. However, she later claimed that the offer was a publicity gimmick and that the preparations were scrapped due to her parents’ objections.

Poonam has also acted in films and television shows including Malini & Co., Khatron Ke Khiladi, and Bigg Boss. Aside from her acting profession, she is well-known for her social media presence, where she frequently posts provocative stuff.
