RIP: Dhoom director Sanjay Gadhvi passes away at 57

Yash Raj Studios expresses condolences at the director’s death

On Sunday, November 19, filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi passed away, reportedly due to a heart attack. The renowned director of ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Dhoom 2,’ both starring Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan, was 56 and would have turned 57 on November 22. Survived by his wife Gina and two daughters, Gadhvi had recently visited a multiplex to watch movies.

Gadhvi, known for films like ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’ and ‘Kidnap,’ directed ‘Ajab Gazabb Love’ in 2012 and ‘Operation Parindey’ in 2020. His directorial journey began with ‘Tere Liye’ in 2000, but it went unnoticed. Gaining recognition with the 2004 action thriller ‘Dhoom,’ Gadhvi’s career took off.

Friends expressed their shock on X (formerly Twitter), with one sharing memories of shared office space and discussions at YRF. Yash Raj Films’ X handle posted a photo, stating, “The magic he created on screen will be cherished forever. May his soul rest in peace.”
