In the past, Raveena Tandon has claimed that Karisma Kapoor is to blame for her exclusion from movies. Even now, the rumoured conflict between the two actors—who appeared together in movies like Andaz Apna Apna (1994)—remains a topic of discussion. When asked about their present relationship in a recent interview, Raveena said succinctly that they simply connected socially.
In earlier interviews, Raveena declined to identify the actor but seemed to criticise Karisma for using her position to get Raveena “kicked out of four projects.”
In a recent interview, Raveena was asked to name the 90s actors with whom she remained friends. She adopted the names of Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Shilpa Shetty, Sridevi, Juhi Chawla, and Neelam.
Speaking about her bond with them, Raveena Tandon said in an interview to ANI, “Whenever we all meet, we meet so warmly and there are times we party together, even in those days we used to… I used to go pick up Urmila and we used to go for the Holi parties together.” When Raveena was asked if Karisma was one of her friends from the film industry, the actor said, “We do meet socially, but I think she has her set circle (of friends).”
Actor Ajay Devgn and Raveena were purportedly dating in the 1990s, but their relationship ended and Ajay supposedly started seeing Karisma Kapoor. Raveena had stated in a 1997 interview with Rediff, “I won’t mention the heroine, but she pulled me from four movies because she was insecure. In fact, I was supposed to work on one of the movies alongside her. Evidently, she was closer to the director and the protagonist. These events certainly take place, but I don’t enjoy playing games of this nature.”
When the interviewer said that her ‘catfight’ with Karisma was common knowledge, and she had even refused to pose with Raveena at a party, the actor had responded, “It doesn’t make me a superstar if I pose with a Karisma Kapoor today. She doesn’t feature in my life in any which way. I’m a professional, I don’t care. I would pose with a broomstick if need be… Karisma and I are not the best of friends. Ditto with Ajay… Professionally I’m ready to work with Ajay or Karisma. Where work is concerned, I don’t bother about these stupid ego problems.”
