Randeep Hooda says social media negativity and ‘cancel culture’ are things that don’t bother him. The actor was recently questioned over how ‘boycott culture’ is affecting movie releases. Randeep, speaking at India Today Mind Rocks 2024 Youth Summit, branded the trend of boycott as a ‘social media hoax’.
While describing the boycott on social media, the actor said that any popularity is good for the actors. However, he mentioned that it should not be simply for creating ‘sensationalism’.
“I think any popularity is good popularity. The problem arises when nobody is talking about you. But that should not also be a case of just creating sensationalism. Boycott culture is a social media hoax,” he stated. He explained that the when a movie does not work, it is not because of boycott trends running against it, but rather because it did not impress the audience.
Randeep entered the acting world through Mira Nair’s Hinglish movie Monsoon Wedding. It was his first Hindi film. His notable Bollywood films are, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, Jannat 2, Cocktail, Jism 2, Heroine, Murder 3, Highway and Kick.
