Megastar Amitabh Bachchan praised his longtime actor friend Rajinikanth, calling him “supreme of all stars” at a recent event for their upcoming movie Vettaiyan. The actor remembered Rajinkanth’s humility during the shoot of Hum at the event which brings them back together after 33 years.

Being held in Chennai, Sr. Bachchan was not present at the event but has sent a special message for the movie. The screen icon recalled shooting for the 1991 drama, which had Rajinikanth and Govinda essaying the role of his younger brothers.

According to India Today, the veteran started by saying how privileged he felt that Vettaiyan was his very first Tamil film. The megastar then went on to remember making the Mukul Anand directorial with Rajinikanth, who, in his words, is “the supreme of all stars.”

“I used to rest in my AC vehicle while shooting for Hum, and Rajini slept on the floor during breaks. Watching him be so simple, I came out of the vehicle and rested outside,” Bachchan said in his video message which was played at the launch. The duo has also acted in Andhaa Kanoon and Geraftaar.

Vettaiyan marks the directorial work of TJ Gnanavel, who last helmed the much-acclaimed Tamil legal drama Jai Bhim with Suriya. The release date is scheduled for October 10 with Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan and VJ Rakshan in the leads.
