The baby girl who was born via surrogate arrived within 27 weeks at southern California hospital outside LA, where she will remain until she is healthy enough to return home with her parents Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, a source close to the couple gave the inputs.
Nick who is 29 years old and Priyanka who is 39 tied the knot in 2018 has surprised the fans with the news of their growing family in the statement shared on social media on Friday.
“We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much(heart emoji),” the couple wrote.
They did not reveal further details about the gender or name of the child.
According to the source, the couple had been waiting to have a baby together for ‘quite some time’, but their schedules had gotten in the way of their family planning.
They eventually contacted an agency to explore their options, they connected to that woman through SoCal who they believed was a good match.
“Priyanka Chopra Jonas doesn’t have any fertility issue preventing her from having a baby but she is 39 now so it’s not getting any easier,” the source said.
Their busy work schedules make it difficult for the couple to physically be together to conceive when she (Priyanka) is ovulating, so they choose the option of surrogacy.
The woman who came as a good match according to the pair had four surrogacy before this, the couple liked her when they first met her.
The baby had been due in April but the surrogate ended up giving birth on Sunday ‘the baby is very premature’ the source added.
The source continues: “Priyanka had been trying to get her pending movies all done before the baby was due in April but this has completely thrown her all plans.”
It is presumed that the baby girl and the surrogate are currently in hospital and Nick and Priyanka are waiting for the baby to be healthy enough to move to a hospital in Los Angeles.
There were rumours and speculation that the marriage was in trouble and that they might divorce, but that’s was not true. Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are very happy together. Earlier this month Priyanka revealed that children were definitely in their plans.
Talking about the February issue of Vanity Fair magazine of which Priyanka Nick Jonas will be the cover star- Priyanka said, “There is a big part of our desire for the future, by God grace when it happens, it happens.”
When the interviewer mentioned the couple’s hectic schedules, Priyanka joked: “No, we are not too busy to practice.”
The couple has agreed to put their focus entirely on their further child when they do become parents.
