
Pooja Hegde is a member of the Indian delegation to the Cannes Film Festival this year. The group is led by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur and includes R Madhavan, AR Rahman, Tamannaah, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, among others. Several more Indian actors are also present at the festival, representing various products. Pooja seemed to make a veiled reference to such celebrities while speaking at the festival on Thursday.
Pooja remarked during the 75th edition of the event’s inauguration of the Indian pavilion, “I’ve not come (to the Cannes Film Festival) with a brand, but I’ve come with brand India.”
The actor went on to say that she was honored to be representing Indian cinema at the event. She added, “I’ve come (here) as a representative. It’s an honor for me to be very honest to come (here) as an Indian actor celebrating Indian cinema,” The actor Pooja walked the red carpet with the rest of the delegation on Tuesday. The delegation was also supposed to include actor Akshay Kumar, but he had to cancel his trip after testing positive for Covid-19.
