Politician Praful Patel took to his X account and paid heartfelt condolences to the singer. He wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear of the demise of legendary singer, Pankaj Udhas Ji. His timeless melodies touched the hearts of millions, leaving an indelible mark on the world of music. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his music continue to inspire generations to come. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Union Minister Anurag Thakur for Information and Broadcasting, offered deep condolences to the singer. “Deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Pankaj Udhas ji. His career, spanning more than 4 decades, enriched our music industry and gifted us with some of the most memorable and melodious renditions of gazals. His demise is an irreparable loss to our music world. My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and followers in this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, “We mourn the loss of Pankaj Udhas Ji, whose singing conveyed a range of emotions and whose Ghazals spoke directly to the soul. He was a beacon of Indian music, whose melodies transcended generations. I recall my various interactions with him over the years. Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra,  Devendra  Fadnavis wrote, “चिठ्ठी आयी है वतन से चिठ्ठी आयी है… Pained to hear that renowned Gazal Singer Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas ji is no more. My tributes to him & heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and admirers. He will be remembered forever for many his melodious gazals and music. ॐ शान्ति”

Chief Minister of Bengal, Mamata Banerjee stated, “Deeply saddened by the demise of veteran singer, Pankaj Udhas, one of the greatest performers of Indian Ghazal of our times, today at Mumbai. His departure will create a vacuum in the Indian music world. My deep condolences to his family as well as to countless admirers that he leaves behind in the whole world.”

Pankaj Udhas’s last rites will be performed on the 27th of February. The singer was also the recipient of the Padma Shri Award in 2006. He has been known for his remarkable ghazals that have ruled over the audience’s hearts. The singer will always be cherished for his iconic ghazals.
