The 69th Filmfare Awards 2024 was held last night in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The show was hosted by Karan Johar and Ayushmann Khurrana, and the awards ceremony was attended by many actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vikrant Massey, Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor and others. It was a star-studded night, and while the netizens feel that most of the awards were given to deserving celebrities, they are not satisfied with one award.
Alia Bhatt won the Best Actress (Popular) award for her performance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and the netizens are not happy with her win, as they feel that Rani Mukerji deserved the award for her performance in Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway. Rani won the Best Actress (Critics) award, but many feel that either Rani, Kiara Advani or Taapsee Pannu deserve the Best Actress (Popular) award.
A netizen commented on Instagram: “no one said anything when she won for gangubai because she DESERVED it, but this??? Hey, there were better nominees.” Another Instagram user wrote, “So it’s proven that Alia Bhatt won the best actress award with an absolutely shameless fix, Rani Mukherjee totally deserved the award.” One other netizen commented, “Apart from kissing, what else did she do? Gangu was good, but what is this? Kiara, Taapsee, Rani?”
Apart from Alia, Bhumi Pednekar, Kiara Advani, Deepika Padukone and Rani Mukerji were nominated in the Best Actress category. While Alia won Best Actress (Popular), Ranbir Kapoor won Best Actor (Popular) for his performance in Animal. The Best Actor (Critics) award went to Vikrant Massey for his fantastic performance in 12th Fail, and the Best Actress (Critics) award was shared between Shefali Shah for Three of Us and Rani Mukerji for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.
