Nayanthara had previously issued a strongly-worded open letter in an attempt to address the legal dispute with Dhanush over the unauthorized use of a clip from his 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. The actor has now ended her silence in a recent interview, wherein she explained her reasons and shed light on the situation. The actress emphasized the importance of creative integrity while defending her team’s intentions behind the documentary’s content.
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Nayanthara said, “Courage only comes from the truth. I only have to be scared when I’m fabricating something. If I’m not doing that, I don’t have to be scared. If I didn’t speak out now, when the things had already gone too far, I don’t think anyone would have the courage to stand up for themselves ever again.”
She also clarified that her open letter was never meant to serve as a publicity stunt for her documentary, and explained further that it was not about success or failure of a film, but rather an attempt to connect with the audience on a personal level.
