
The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be held from the 20th of November to the 28th of November in Goa. The opening ceremony will be hosted at Shamaprasad Indoor Stadium, Panaji. The events calls for immense excitement and thrill as around 250 films will be premier through the medium of this film festival. Celebrities such as Shahid Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Shreya Ghoshal, Nushratt Bharucha, Sukhwinder Singh, Shantanu Moitra and Pankaj Tripathi will headline the opening ceremony.
The ceremony will be hosted by Karishma Tanna and Aparskati Khurrana. Many renowned personalities from the Hindi cinema will be gracing the event such as Sunny Deol, Vijay Sethupathi, Karan Johar, Sara Ali Khan and many more.
Viacom Media Pvt Ltd is the exclusive media and broadcasting partner for the opening and closing ceremony of the festival. The company has been the sole partner for two successive years. They will be screening the ceremony on its television channel Colors and also on its OTT platform i.e. Jio Cinema.
Union Minister of Information and Technology and Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur speaking about IFFI stated, “IFFI has been growing every year thanks to the passion of our filmmakers from across the country and the collaboration that we have been able to forge with the directors and producers from across the world. As we take forward Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of strengthening India’s global position across all sectors, cinema, arts and culture can empower our youth to foray into the world stage with stories that are global in essence and local at heart. Indeed, IFFI has become the perfect platform for establishing collaborations, joint productions and cutting-edge technology,” as reported by Bollywood Hungama.
IFFI has also taken the initiative to invite filmmakers to showcase their films at the opening ceremony. Director and producer Karan Johar will be appearing along with the entire cast of ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ to screen their upcoming movie. The film is based on an action-thriller drama based on the life of Usha Mehta who started an underground radio mission known as Congress Radio. It was initiated during the Quit India movement in 1942, which helped in disseminating uncensored news.
While Pankaj Tripathi will be making his presence along with Shreya Ghoshal, Shantanu Moitra and Tabu Chake to introduce their upcoming film, Kadak Singh. The movie is directed by award-winning director Aniruddha Roy Choudhary. The film revolves around AK Shrivastav who exposes a chit fund scam.
Vijay Sethupathi would also reveal the first look of his silent film Gandhi Talks. Based on a black comedy, the film focuses on four characters namely Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Siddharth Jadhav and Aditi Roy Hydari.
The closing ceremony will be headlined by Amit Trivedi and Ayushman Khurrana. The dream girl will be giving an energetic performance while giving tribute to Michael Douglas, a recipient of the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award.
Film dignitaries such as Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jonas, Siddharth Malhotra, Salman Khan, Vidya Balan, Vicky Kaushal, Anupam Kher, AR Rahman, Shantanu Moitra, Aditi Roy Hydari, Sukhwinder Singh, Amit Trivedi, Shreya Ghoshal will highlight the event will their presence.
The star-studded event will continue for a week offering a magnanimous platform for the creators for presenting their work. The film festival will also emphasize the growing South film market as many incredible movies from the South film industry receive widespread appreciation. The closing ceremony will be hosted by Karan Chhabra and Nashpreet Kaur. The festival will also praise many dance forms showcasing India through the lens of movies and cinema. It will feature India’s rich diversity and cultural traditions.
