Bollywood actress Malaika Arora’s home in Bandra West, located in the tranquil neighbourhood of Pali Hill, has a new renter in the form of the creative costume designer Kashish Hans. Hans signed a three-year lease arrangement and pays ₹1.57 lakh per month.
However, this is not a flat rate. The deal calls for a 5% annual escalation. Rent starts at ₹1.5 lakh per month in the first year, rises to ₹1.57 lakh in the second, and reaches ₹1.65 lakh in the third year.
The sale, recorded on April 29, 2024, included a ₹4.5 lakh security deposit paid by the tenant, according to papers seen by Zapkey. Interestingly, this is not Malaika’s first time renting out her Bandra flat.
According to Zapkey, the last tenant was Jeffrey Goldenberg, proprietor of The Jeff Goldenberg Studio, who paid ₹1.2 lakh per month in rent. This simply goes to prove that Malaika Arora is more than just a glossy diva; she is also a skilled investor who understands how to make her investments profitable.
Arjun Kapoor, Malaika’s boyfriend, had sold his flat in the same location, at the 81 Aureate building, for a whopping 16 crore in 2022. This huge 4,364-square-foot unit is located on the 19th level of the building on KC Marg. Malaika is no stranger to the Aureate Building.
She owns a flat and had previously submitted a complaint with the real estate regulator MahaRERA against the developers for the delay in handing over possession of the flat she had booked for 14.5 crore.
However, in November 2021, both parties told MahaRERA that the dispute had been resolved peacefully, with the developer finally transferring possession of the unit to Malaika.
