Lionel Richie recently spoke out after his fellow judge on the show American Idol, Katy Perry revealed that the upcoming season 22 will be her last.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, the singer addressed the shocking revelation made by Katy while visiting Live! earlier.
Lionel told the host, “It just made me run off the road when I first heard about it. My phone blew up.” He also admitted that he wasn’t upset with the singer unexpectedly dropping the news on the show.
He continued that he as well Luke Bryan, a fellow judge on the reality show, did not know about, however, they believe that her decision does make sense.
Lionel explained that when Katy said she wanted to go to create some stories, we need to remember that she’s young. “But the point is that you have to take some time and actually be an artist.”
