Comedian Kunal Kamra has issued an apology to his fans after police summoned audience members who attended his controversial stand-up show, “Naya Bharat,” which has sparked a political uproar in Maharashtra.

A Mumbai-based banker who was present at Kamra’s show was summoned as a witness after a case was registered against the comedian for his alleged remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, according to police officials.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kamra addressed the inconvenience caused to his audience members, stating: “I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience that attending my show has caused to you.”

He also humorously added: “Please email me so that I can schedule your next vacation anywhere you’d like in India.”

Legal Trouble for Kamra

Kamra is facing multiple FIRs over his alleged “traitor” comments against Eknath Shinde. Mumbai Police has now issued a third summons, asking him to appear for questioning on April 5 at Khar Police Station.

The 36-year-old comedian, known for his anti-establishment stance, has so far refused to apologize for the controversial content in his 45-minute show, which has amassed over 12 million views on YouTube.

Police officials, however, denied reports that audience members were officially summoned to record statements, clarifying that the notices were only meant for witnesses in the ongoing investigation.
