Princess Kate Middleton is focused on her family as she battling cancer.

On Friday, the princess made an official announcement of being diagnosed with cancer post her abdominal surgery via a personal video message addressing her fans and well wishers. She also outlined how she is taking time to explain the situation to her three children – Prince George, 10, Prince Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 – whom she shares with Prince Williams.

The princess also mentioned that she is in the early stage of preventative chemotherapy treatment, as advised by her medical team. She underwent abdominal surgery earlier in January this year, post which the doctors found that she has diagnosed with cancer.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment, But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok,” said Princess Kate.
